It's tough for the Australian squad to break new ground.

The top summits have long been mastered.

This is the squad that has claimed seven Cricket World Cups, along with another six T20 titles, and once went over three years without defeat in 50-over cricket.

The remaining milestones, the ones sought by the peak baggers, are what's still available for a squad that has achieved everything.

That it took up to Sunday's success by three wickets over India for them to complete their first ODI chase above 300, reclaiming their record for the highest in the women's 50-over format, is, frankly, a tribute to the bowling attack that have sported the yellow jersey over five decades.

It's difficult for their hitters to maintain a record if not afforded the possibility.

Finally, the outcome of Australia giving up 330 runs was skipper Alyssa Healy being given a chance to deliver her latest masterpiece.

Then best known as the 19-year-old niece of famous ex Aussie wicketkeeper Ian, she made her debut in 2010 after Australia couldn't capture either of the 20 or 50-over World Cups conducted earlier and has seen it all through 15 successful years since.

A T20 championship victory came three months after her debut and seven international trophies have come from 10 attempts across formats.

The determined wicketkeeper was present as well in Derby in 2017 when a semi-final setback by India briefly halted the successful run.

That loss "pushed us to reconsider our benchmarks," Healy stated recently.

At the next 50-over World Cup in New Zealand, Healy hit 170 against England in the title decider and was awarded tournament MVP. She made sure her country would not come up short.

The question of whether this latest epic knock topped that previous effort is debatable.

Certain people claim the argument supporting final game tension. Others can counter with the test that comes when pursuing an unprecedented total and a loud pro-India audience of 20,000.

What's definite is this hundred was far harder to anticipate.

The Christchurch destruction in 2022 came as she topped the run-scoring charts, but this knock was preceded by six games in India since the start of last month in which she had failed to pass 30.

"If you've observed me in the nets, it has been a frustrating experience because it appeared I've had no rhythm whatsoever," said Healy.

"The possibility to go out there and lock in a contest with her and simply enjoy myself in that regard, kind of motivated me," said Healy.

She achieved fifty in 35 deliveries - her swiftest at a World Cup - and her ton in 84 balls as she flogged anything short, hitting 21 fours and three sixes.

By the time she was removed the team needed 66 additional runs at one run per ball - a manageable total now demanding an easy conclusion.

"Chasing 330 runs is uncharted waters so I'm pleased we have the assurance to do that now," continued Healy.

"Ideally we won't need to repeat it but, should it happen, we believe we can achieve it."

Those words will be the ultimate thing competing nations at this championship want to hear.

During the last week a sense they will succeed regardless of circumstances has grown stronger - this triumph succeeding victory over Pakistan by 107-run victory despite sitting at 76-7 at one stage.

Following this Australia face Bangladesh before a match against old rivals England in Indore in ten days, by which point a semi-final place may likely be confirmed.
