Ex- BBC Consultants Undergo MPs' Grilling After Assertions of Prejudice in Leaked Memorandum
We begin with questions from Conservative MP Caroline Dinenage, that chairs the group.
She commences by providing background to the disclosed document prepared by Michael Prescott and released in a daily publication.
"I do not desire the BBC leaning in any particular direction, I just want it balanced, unbiased and fair," he states.
When asked whether he considers the BBC is structurally prejudiced, he responds: "No I don't. To be clear, tons of stuff the BBC produces is exceptional - encompassing factual and entertainment programming."
But he adds: "There exists substantial tasks that needs to be done at the BBC."
Another ex-adviser BBC consultant examined by the committee, Caroline Daniel, says she views the BBC extremely earnestly and that it has a "ongoing system and lively discussion" on evolving and intricate topics.
"Whether the BBC was prepared to conduct a thorough dialogue and argument and take action?" she questions. "From my perspective, yes they were."
