Former Physician Charged with Assault Allegations Against 38 Individuals in His Care

Prosecutors report that a former doctor now faces charges for carrying out assaults involving thirty-eight victims who were patients.

Details of the Serious Charges

The accused, Nathaniel Spencer from Birmingham is accused of numerous acts of sexual assault – comprising acts against children younger than 13 – between 2017 and 2021.

A deputy chief prosecutor stated, “Legal teams have diligently worked to support a thorough and intricate police inquiry, meticulously examining the available evidence to establish that there is a strong case to bring the case to trial and that it is in the interest of justice.”

The Investigation

The charges follow what police described as a “complex investigation” into alleged assaults at two hospitals: a hospital in Stoke-on-Trent and a facility in Dudley.

Spencer is scheduled to appear at the North Staffordshire justice centre on 20 January.

List of Offences

The charging documents said the 45 charges he is charged with:

  • Fifteen counts of sexual assault.
  • 17 counts of assault by penetration.
  • Nine counts of assault on a minor under thirteen.
  • Three counts of assault of a child under 13 by penetration.
  • One count of attempted penetrative assault.
