Outrage as Beloved South African DJ Shot Dead in the Heart of Johannesburg.

A popular South African media personality and entertainer has been fatally gunned down in the country's largest city Johannesburg, triggering widespread grief across a country grappling with rampant crime.

Warrick Stock, popularly known as DJ Warras, was attacked in the city centre on the afternoon of Tuesday.

Police said the forty-year-old entertainer was confronted by three individuals, with one shot at him before fleeing on foot.

"The report indicates the deceased was approached by three unidentified men after he parked his car, and they opened fire at him before running from the location on foot," an official report said.

CCTV footage reportedly captured a suspect with dreadlocks and dressed in what resembled a protective services outfit opening fire on Stock before fleeing.

The DJ sought to escape after he was hit but collapsed a short distance away.

Police added that Stock had an unused firearm and nothing was taken during the incident.
