The Division Is Coming to the Tabletop as a Deeply Strategic Tabletop Role-Playing Game
The intense universe from Tom Clancy’s The Division will be translated into a tabletop role-playing experience. A collaboration was established to develop a tabletop RPG that explores the series' apocalyptic setting. This initiative was revealed, with a funding drive scheduled to launch in the spring of 2026.
"This project will bring the franchise’s distinctive tension, strategic depth, and memorable setting to the table, providing fans a new way to engage with The Division through deep narrative and player-driven missions," states an official release.
Launch products are set to feature a starter set, core rulebooks, a Game Master screen, miniatures, and several premium versions.
Delving Into The Division's Apocalyptic World
In this setting, a deadly virus known as Green Poison was unleashed in New York City, plunging the nation into turmoil. As the pandemic worsens, civil order breaks down and hostile groups emerge, transforming the urban landscape into a warzone. To restore order, the authorities {activate|deploy] The Division, a covert network of undercover operatives. This is where the agents come in.
Work on the RPG has been in progress for about three years, and it is reportedly complete. The forthcoming crowdfunding effort will serve as a preorder system to reach a broader audience, particularly in North America. Manufacturing will start immediately following the fundraiser, with shipping expected for later in 2026.
A Streamlined Tactical System: The GRIS System
An early look at the game's rules reveals it employs d10s predominantly through its new GRIS system, encouraging a streamlined and strategic style. Agents use abilities to roll a handful of dice, usually between one and five d10s.
- Rather than adding results together, participants choose a single “result die” from the pool.
- This dice is then measured against a set challenge number.
- Achieving a perfect 10 grants special effects, such as increased harm or enhanced aid.
Combat Emphasize Positioning and Situational Insight
Battles prioritize placement and situational awareness, mirroring the source material. Factors like cover, elevation, or visibility directly influence dice rolls. This system is designed to reward coordination and smart positioning instead of simple statistics.
A Thematic Wound System
The way health is managed adds a compelling narrative layer. Operatives have a wound threshold; sustaining too much damage weakens their capabilities by decreasing the size of their dice pool.
- At critical condition, an agent collapses, but is not knocked out.
- They may still crawl and take limited actions, emulating the "downed" state seen in many shooter games.
- Any player in this state must consult a trauma table, risking lingering conditions like trauma or crippling injuries.
An Introductory Adventure
A publicly available Quickstart Guide will be released soon. It contains a ready-to-play starting adventure titled Ashes of Murray Hill. In this mission, the group spearhead the search for a missing medical team and work to stop an assault by the notorious Rikers faction, who have seized control of that NYC neighborhood. More specifics and the complete product lineup will be detailed near the Kickstarter start date.
