The New Animated Series' Opening Sequence Selected the Incorrect Popular RPG Show Track

This latest animated series, the newest animated adventure from the beloved role-playing group, revealed an exciting opening credits. It showcases our favorite cast of misfits, outcasts, and rogues kicking ass and making their mark, while teasing at several agonizing personal histories for key figures including the voice actor's wizard Caleb, and Travis Willingham's warlock orc, the character Fjord.

Overall, the opening appears amazing. However, I felt that an element was lost in the music selection.

The intro uses "Welcome to the Continent", an exceptional song created by artist the talented musician. This piece from the official score of that title, the second release released by the production company's music division their music brand. It's a wonderful nostalgic choice, and I suspect that fans of the sequel series will appreciate its presence.

Personally, The series' opening fails to capture the excitement and energy that accompanied the show's live-play sessions. "It's Your Turn", written by musician Jason Charles Miller, became an immediate hit in my view when it was first revealed in 2015, and it only got better when cast member the performer added lyrics to the tune for the series' animated intro in the later year.

Featuring vocals from Ashley Johnson, another performer, a co-star, as well as the writer, the song was memorable and enjoyable. At the time, I hadn't even watched the follow-up series yet, but this was such an earworm that I still saved it on my phone. It's a song that excites you before you dive into an installment of adventurous fun.

The Mighty Nein's opening with "the new song" doesn't strike the right notes for me. It's an impressive piece of music, but based on my understanding of the group, I feel that its tone is somewhat mismatched.

Of course, the creators has already said that the series will have a few surprises and variations from the actual-play campaign. An adjusted mood for its opening seems to be among these.

The Mighty Nein will be released on Prime Video from Nov. 19. If you can't wait before that, or want a head start to get to know the characters of Critical Role's Campaign 2, the actual play are accessible on the audio platform and the video site.
